SAMMARCO: Winner of the IDEE 153rd German Derby with roots at Gestuet Wittekindshof

We congratulate Helmut von Finck and his Park Wiedingen Stud, as well as the entire team around today's Derby winner SAMMARCO for the impressive triumph in the most important race of the year, the 650k IDEE 153rd German Derby (Gr.1) run over 2,400 metres today in Hamburg. It is the dream of every German breeder to win this race, so the fact that the Peter Schiergen-trained Camelot colt has roots at our stud farm fills us with pride.

SAMMARCO's dam SALOON SOLD is a Wittekindshof product and belongs to the dam line of the top mare SALONBLUE. SALOON SOLD, who is by SOLDIER HOLLOW, was an offer at the BBAG Yearling Sale and after her active career moved to Park Wiedingen, where she naturally attracted a great deal of interest as a daughter of their three-time champion sire. That this was more than a justified interest was proven by the fighter SAMMARCO, who has already won the Union in a similar manner and who has certainly not yet reached his zenith.
